A Busy Start to the New Year

E-mail Print PDF

January is already starting off in the right direction for Creation House. We have been busy developing our services, working on new books with new deadlines, and receiving prosperity in a down economy.

The Creation House team is thankful for everything that God is doing for us and we want to encourage you to stay optimistic and keep moving forward whether you are writing a book or in search of a new job.

At times we even get discouraged or concerned with what is going on in the world today, in our lives and with the new changes in the publishing industry. At times like these we start to focus on the ministry part of our work in helping spread God's Word to the nations, and lean on Him for support.

This is a verse that helps our team remind us what to do in stressful times and we believe it will encourage you too!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths.

—Psalm 3:5–6 (NLT)

We pray that 2010 will be one of the best years for you and your family.

Know Your Audience

E-mail Print PDF

The Creation House team is back into the working groove after the Christmas holidays, and we would like to help authors get started on their writing projects. In coming weeks we’ll be offering writing tips to help you get motivated and stay on track.

One of the primary errors authors make is to lose focus when writing. In nonfiction, it is clear when the author loses track of his or her audience because the manuscript starts to sound like a rant instead of a well-presented argument. In fiction, this loss of focus results in sudden changes in point of view, or the author may leave out important details of a scene.

A key marketing factor that publishers and bookstores look at when considering a book for publication is, Who is the reader, or to whom is the book directed? If the author does not know whom his or her audience is, then how is an editor, marketing team, salesman, or book buyer to know?

Once you have researched the subject matter of your book and the audience you want to reach, try this tip to help keep you focused:

Daily Tip:

Find a picture of a person or group that represents your audience, or who you want to read your book. Then post it on your computer or on the wall above your writing space. Keeping it in your line of vision will help remind you why you are writing and for whom you are writing, which will in turn make your book more focused.

Be Blessed!

Merry Christmas

 Very Merry Christmas!

We are ready to celebrate with our families, finish up some shopping, and prepare for after-Christmas shopping. But most importantly, we're looking forward to giving thanks to Christ for His love and sacrifice.

Daily Tip:

Say Merry Christmas to everyone you see, and don't worry about calories today and tomorrow. Start eating healthy on Saturday.

Thank you to our authors for their support, and again, we wish everyone and their families a very Merry Christmas and hope your holidays are merry and bright.

Be blessed!
