Fr. Dimitri Sala is a Franciscan friar, ordained a priest in 1984. Though based in Chicago, he is not a local pastor, but has a full-time apostolic ministry combined with a life of prayer. "What does that mean?"

The work is basically that of itinerant preaching and of equipping people to extend the Kingdom of God; yet such ministry requires not only prayer, but a lifestyle that makes frequent and quality prayer possible. Thus he has conducted many retreats, days of recollection, apostolic leadership workshops, healing services, missions and revivals, and in the past has initiated a summer street ministry. With others he has trained as a team, Dimitri has ministered to clergy and laity of many ethnic groups, ages, and denominations. He has also been a featured speaker in diocesan, regional, national, and international conferences, and has made several appearances on Christian television and radio. As of 1996, the ministry has extended itself through publication -- a pamphlet, and articles on themes of evangelization and ecumenism have preceded his first book.

In his entire life as a friar, Fr. Dimitri has had relationships with Christians across denominational lines; this eventually led him to involvement with international efforts of reconciliation between Evangelical Protestants and Catholics. His book, The Stained Glass Curtain, is the product of these many years of "Crossing the Evangelical-Catholic Divide to Find Our Common Heritage".
